Day 33 - Bathroom Tile

I wasn't able to get out to the house the past day or two because of being SO BUSY getting stuff done, choices made, etc! I got all of our bathroom tile chosen, though, so it has been fun a fun couple of days!!

In the boys bathroom and the basement guest bath, we are going to do this light gray flooring (on the right). The shower floor will be the small mosaic on the bottom left and there will be a mosaic around the shower in the tile on the top left. I am LOVING this combo!!

Our master bath is what I am most excited about, though!! The flooring and shower walls will be the dark gray tile on the left. Then, the white hexagon marble tiles will be our flooring and our vertical mosaic going up to each of the shower heads. It is going to be SO PRETTY!! I am so excited!!

I also chose a gold calacatta beveled stone for our fireplace and a marble herringbone for our kitchen backsplash. Tile has been fun, but also a very daunting/expensive part of this process!! 

Day 31/32

The flooring of the basement was poured on Monday!! That meant that they could continue with the framing of the basement - it was nice to finally be able to visualize how that space was going to be laid out! I have been told that everything goes through "stages" of feeling big and small during the house building process - we have definitely found that to be true!!

Tristan and Jarret's tub was also placed in their bathroom - exciting stuff!!!

It appears that the HVAC and plumbing is done now. We are hoping to have our electrical walk-through soon so that process can get going! I am also waiting to make some lighting decisions because I need to make sure everything fits into the allowance.

Day 28-30 - Countertops, Basement Progress

We had a super busy week in the house department, but I was out of town with the boys for quite a few days so I wasn't able to get a ton of pictures done!! Also, the progress is now consisting of HVAC, plumbing, etc., so the changes can be seen, but they aren't as exciting for me ;)

I went home to my parents to get our final countertop choices picked out! Our kitchen will be quartz - its called Calacatta Classique. It is a white base with deep gray veining throughout. I am absolutely OBSESSED with it!! It will be so bright and clean in our kitchen!!

This is our powder room - and it is marble. I am super excited about it!! So many people had comments about using marble in our home, but I REALLY wanted it somewhere - so the powder room seemed like the natural choice! 

This will be the quartz used in the boy's bathroom and on the bar. It is hard to see in the picture, but it has some light gray veining throughout. I really like how subtle it is!

This might be one of my favorite pieces - it is for the guest bathroom. I am in LOVE with the gray and white!!!

This is the quartz for our laundry room. 

I ended up having to make some changes in the stone that I originally picked, because some of my design styles changed, but I am glad that my parents are great friends with the owners of the company -they were SO kind and accommodating to us!!

We are doing in-floor heat in the basement, so that was laid last week! I am hoping that means they are going to pour the concrete down there soon!! YAY!!!

Our fireplace was also installed! I am VERY excited about the design I did for our fireplace. It is going to be a white surround with a barn-beam mantle and I am (hoping) a gold marble tile. It is going to come together so beautifully!!

Our builder said that we will have our electrical walk-through in the next week or two - after that, it will be insulation and sheetrocking the walls. In about a month, our siding will hopefully be in and at the end of August, it will be cabinet install time!! AHH!! It is going quickly, but I wish I could snap my fingers and be moving in! It is so fun to see everything come together!

Day 25-27

We are FINALLY closed on our house, hence the lack of updates on this blog!! It has been a LOT of moving and prepping our rental for our life here for the next couple of months!

We are really going to miss this home! We went through a lot of "life stages" here - we will miss the neighbors, the kids, the friends, etc....but we are super excited to extend our friendships with all of these people to our new home :)

The big accomplishment over the last couple of days is that the shingles are now done and the windows are installed! YAY!! We are super excited about this, because that means that the weather doesn't have to be such a factor anymore on our time frame!

This is the double front door that we are doing - I am not sure if these are the permanent fixtures, but I am in LOVE with them...and the transom window above them! They let in so much light - it is something I always wanted! I am so glad we decided to do them!

We took my parents out to see the house and they have the vapor barrier done on the basement floor. We are doing in-floor heat downstairs instead of a fireplace, we are hoping it warms it up down there!

Hoping to be better over the next  couple of weeks with updates, but life isn't slowing down much!! 

Day 24 - Roof

The final roof is started!! YAY!! We are super excited to have the roof get done because that means that weather is less of an aspect we need to worry about in moving forward with the home being built! It is honestly really hard waiting on rainy days - so this will keep the progress moving foward!!

We had a couple of questions come up from our builder today - they wanted to know if we wanted an entire glass shower door in our master bath, or if we wanted to tile half of the wall and make it a smaller door. We decided to stay with the original design of an entire shower wall/door as that will make it more open and bright. We are excited about our choice :) The other question was pretty basic in that we have to change the type of door into our master bath because it was designed in a weird way - so we decided on a pocket door in order to conserve some space!

Hopefully getting back to the house tomorrow to see even more accomplished!

Day 23 - We have STAIRS!! YAY!!

Being that it was Sunday, when Jarret and I went out to the house today, we didn't expect ANY change from Friday!! So, it was a SUPER pleasant surprise to see that their stairs were completed this weekend!! YAY!! That meant that I could get upstairs to see the framing of the bedrooms :)

This will be Tristan's room. I am absolutely in love with the large windows that all of the rooms have!

This is our master bedroom. It will have double doors, which I am super excited about because it feels so spacious!

This will be the boy's bathroom. It is one room that I am kind of anxious to see come together because it feels small currently.

Overall, the upstairs looks GREAT! Our closet is one of my favorite parts of the house, but of course I didn't take a picture :( Also, our laundry room is upstairs...so it will be really nice to again have the ability to quickly put clothes away once they are done!

Day 22

We went out to the house today, but it was a quick visit, as we didn't see much that had been done. As you can tell from this picture, they have the porch and entrance covered. I love the peak!

Also, they finished the peak on the back of the house above the dining room. It is all coming together!

Short entry today, but I didn't do much with house decisions today and the work is coming along slowly and steadily!!
